How to lock on the flag instead of anything behind it?

To lock on the flag instead of anything behind it, switch to mode 2, aim the flag, and long press the power button until it vibrates. If you successfully locked onto the flag, there will be a circle around the flag icon.

What's the difference between the white one and the black one?

The major difference is that the black one features horizontal distance calculation that can be used for shooting a gun or bow.

Why doesn't this device provide any distance reading?

Please do not measure any objects through a window, since the laser will not travel through glasses.
